""Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir is scented of violets, cinnamon stick and Ceylon tea over a core of red cherries and raspberries, plus a hint of dried Provence herbs. The light to medium-bodied palate offers up a fantastic intensity of perfumed red berries supported by soft, silky tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with a lovely herbal lift."

"Black cherries, toasted spice, licorice and wild herbs all emerge from the balanced, gorgeously textured 2014 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills. And, it’s a smoking value that has both fruit and complexity. It will shine for 4-5 years."

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast

"Concentrated red cherries, dried purple flowers, fresh rose petals and a wet gravel minerality show on the nose of this bottling by Billy Wathen and Dick Dore. It's light in body and fairly delicate on the sip, with Earl Grey tea, stewed cranberry and rose-hip flavors."

"If you're looking for a classic Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir for not much buck, look no further than the 2013 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills from Foxen. Like all the wines here, it was destemmed and spent 17 months in French oak, with this cuvee seeing roughly 30% new (the single vineyard varies from 30-50% new). It offers a plump, rounded, supple and sexy style to go with beautiful spice, rose petal and sweet red and black fruits. Drink this medium-bodied, layered and exceedingly pure Pinot over the coming 5-6 years."

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Another of the more Burgundian-styled wines in the portfolio, the 2015 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard reveals lovely aromas of clove, rose hip, red berry fruit and spicy new oak, followed by a medium-bodied, juicy palate with a sapid core of fruit framed by velvety tannins and an intense, lingering finish." - William Kelley

93 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"One of the many highlights in this lineup from Foxen, the 2015 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard captures all the best qualities of the year. Black cherry, plum, lavender and spice all flesh out in this decidedly seductive, beautifully resonant Pinot Noir."

92 Points - Burghound

"A spicy and more deeply pitched nose combines notes of dark cherry, plum and violets. There is good volume and richness to the round, velvet-textured and seductive medium weight flavors that possess fine depth and length on the moderately robust finale. While there is a trace of austerity, what impresses me here is that there is already very good depth, which isn't something that I typically find with Julia's when it's young. Worth checking out."

91 Points - JebDunnuck.com

"The 2015 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is another forward, sexy, straight up charming wine. It lacks the focus and definition of some of the other cuvées, yet has loads of strawberry and raspberry fruit, medium to full-bodied richness, a mouth filling texture and a good finish. Drink it over the coming 4-6 years."

"Fresh cranberry and black raspberry show on the nose of this bottling that also offers black-pepper sauce, savory soy and a touch of iodine. There's a tarry tension to the palate, but with tart dark cranberry and richer dark cherry flavors as well, mixing up the savory smoke with dense fruit."

93 Points - Tasting Panel Magazine

"Lush and juicy with plum and raspberry; dense and smooth, sweet new oak and a rich finish."

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Ripe black cherries, strawberries, forest floor and lots of spice emerge from the 2014 Pinot Noir Julia’s Vineyard, which is medium-bodied, nicely textured, fresh and elegant. There’s a kick of tannin, yet ripe and polished. Give bottles a year or two and drink through 2024." - Jeb Dunnuck

90 Points - Vinous

"The 2014 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is a soft, open-knit, fruit-driven Pinot to drink over the next few years. Sweet red cherry, plum and spice are pushed forward in this succulent mid-weight offering from Foxen. Ripe, silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal."

90 Points - Burghound

"Coincidence or otherwise this also reflects a minty hint that runs more toward menthol on the restrained and pretty nose that presents an assortment of both red and dark fruit elements along with hints of briar and tea. There is fine richness and volume to the round and velvety middle weight flavors that possess good power and punch on the dusty and borderline robust finale that also displays a hint of warmth. This is a big if not refined wine with plenty of character."

"Ripe, juicy and elegant with bright acidity and lovely Burgundian style; fresh cherry and vanilla, long and lush, racy and lifted."

92 Points - Wine Advocate
"Possessing a beautiful, high toned nose of violets, blood orange, toasted spice and caramelized cherries, the 2014 Pinot Noir la Encantada Vineyard hits the palate with a silky, polished, elegant, finesse-oriented texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. Fresh and lively aromatically, yet with more richness and depth coming through on the palate, it's an impressive wine to enjoy over the following 7-8 years."

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Bright raspberry and fresh-pressed bramble make for a nicely snappy nose that also conveys a touch of rust, graphite and earthiness. Tart cranberry and plum skin mesh into mineral tones of slate and pencil lead, all lifted by bay leaf and dried sage. It needs time to reach full potential."

90 Points - Burghound
"This is also somewhat aromatically restrained as it combines notes of dark cherry and plum with those of anise and slightly exotic Asian-style tea nuances. There is excellent richness to the velvety, round and supple medium-bodied flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel before concluding in a dusty, powerful and vibrant finish. This moderately structured effort isn't especially complex at present though the underlying material appears to ensure that more will almost certainly develop if allowed a few years of bottle age."

95 Points - Wine Enthusuast
"Hearty plum, deep rose petal, earthy juniper, a touch of charcoal and crushed graphite aromas show strongly on the nose of this bottling from a tiny block in this historic vineyard. The palate packs an awesome combination of tension, energy and power, like a clenched fist in a silk glove, with tangy olallieberry fruit and a menthol character that carries deep into the finish."

92 Points - Tasting Panel Magazine
"Smooth, lush and dense with ripe cherry, tangy acidity; balanced and fresh, long and snappy."

92 Points - Vinous
"The 2014 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Block 8 is a bit darker and fleshier than the Block 43, with more of a vertical expression of structure, greater tannic heft and notable breadth in its shape. Dark spice, lavender, sage, iron, game and mint infuse a core of blue and purplish-hued stone fruits. This is an especially brooding, intense Pinot from Foxen, and yet all the elements are impeccably balanced."

92 Points - Wine Advocate
"The 2014 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard Block 8 is another terrific wine, yet it lacks a touch of the charm and elegance of the other Pinot Noirs here. Saddle leather, wild herbs, black cherries and framboise all emerge from this rich, structured, even tannic Pinot Noir that will benefit from short term cellaring. Like the other Pinots here, it was whole berry, destemmed and spent 17 months in 40% new French oak."

91 Points - California Grapevine

90 Points - Burghound
"Here the nose is compositionally similar to the Santa Maria Valley cuvée but with more evident spice and better complexity as well. There is good volume but also good detail to the supple, round and polished middle weight flavors that culminate in a dusty, sappy and equally complex finale where the only nit is a very mild acid tang. It's possible that with a few years of bottle age, as the tannins resolve, that the tang will dissipate and even today I suspect that with a well-chosen dish it would largely be a non-issue."

"One of the riper, richer wines in the lineup, the 2015 Pinot Noir Block 43 Bien Nacido offers beautiful notes of framboise, dried spices and earth, with full-bodied richness, a rounded, textured and mouth filling style and a great finish. In a vintage that yields mostly hard, austere wines, this offers fruit!"

93+ Points - Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown

" Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Block 43 Bien Nacido Vineyard is scented of cherry cordial and cranberry sauce with touches of stewed."

93 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The 2015 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Block 43 is absolutely striking. Large-scaled and ample in feel, the 2015 possesses remarkable richness in every dimension. "

92 Points - California Grapevine

"Medium-light to medium ruby color; very attractive, deep, fragrant, black cherry and raspberry fruit aroma with hints of clove and forest floor; medium to medium-full body; rich, textured, earthy, spicy, nicely balanced, red and dark berry fruit flavors with bright acidity and fleshy richness in the mouthfeel; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Appealing to taste now, though best to age for a few more years. Very highly recommended."

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast

91 Points - Wine Spectator

"Plush, offering a concentrated and complex mix of ripe plum, dark cherry and dried raspberry flavors that are supported by vibrant acidity. The zesty finish is loaded with spice, mineral and dried tarragon notes. Drink now through 2022."

“Spicy and complex, with lots of sour cherries, dried underbrush and crushed flowers, the 2014 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard (aged 17 months in 50% new French oak) is medium-bodied, silky and polished on the palate. It has fine tannin and a clean, classy, balanced style that's already hard to resist. Nevertheless, it will evolve for 5-7 years.” - Jeb Dunnuck

92 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The 2015 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard is a bold, direct wine with more of a savory character than the other Foxen Pinots. My impression is that the 2015 needs time to fully open up, as there is quite a bit of density and depth waiting to emerge. Even today, though, the John Sebastiano is compelling."

91 Points - Burghound

"There is a whiff of menthol to the attractively cool, pure and once again fresh and airy essence of red berry fruit and spice aromas. I like the sense of energy and detail to the appealingly textured medium weight flavors that possess a sleek mouth feel, all wrapped in a linear and focused bitter cherry pit-inflected finish which is also ever-so-slightly youthfully austere. This moderately firmly structured effort will also need a few years to flesh out but it should ultimately be lovely."

90 Points - JebDunnuck.com

"Reminding me of Premier Cru from the northern part of Burgundy with its darker cherry, saddle leather, and sappy floral aromas and flavors, the 2015 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard is medium-bodied, supple and seamless on the palate. It drops off too quickly on the finish, but it's still a beautiful wine. This site lies on the eastern edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, and the 2015 spent 17 months in 36% new French oak."

90 Points - Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"The 2015 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and nose of fresh raspberries and black cherries with hints of forest floor, dried Provence herbs and lavender. Light to medium-bodied with very refreshing, elegant red berry and herbal layers, it has a chewy backbone and earthy finish."

"Supple, pure, polished and loaded with fruit, the 2014 Pinot Noir Solomon Hills Vineyard offers tons of strawberry, wild flowers, spice and hints of licorice in its fruit-forward, plump, mouth-filling style. Despite all of the fruit, it has bright acidity and stays clean, fresh and focused on the finish. I love this vineyard, and this 2014 was destemmed (all of the Pinots here are destemmed) and aged 17 months in 33% new French oak. Drink it anytime over the coming decade."

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast

"This bottling from a vineyard on the extreme west end of the appellation is dense and dark on the nose with concentrated black cherries, sandalwood, sweet anise, allspice and strong garrigue notes. Tart cranberries and crushed oregano, thyme and marjoram herbs show on the sip, which is brightened with zesty acidity. It leaves a menthol-like sensation in the mouth on the finish."

92 Points - Tasting Panel Magazine

"Lush and ripe with smooth texture and balanced flavors of cherry and plum; rich, balanced and long."

"Quite light in the glass, this bottling offers a strongly sage-driven nose bolstered by light licorice and chipped slate that's laced through the tangy cranberry and pretty red-cherry aromas. It's easy and light on the sip but with a full flavor profile, from pomegranate to snappy raspberry, thyme, oregano, dill and tons of pepper."

94 Points - Tasting Panel Magazine
"Juicy, crisp and tangy with bright raspberry and cherry; lively, fresh and racy; long and balanced; Burgundian, fresh and lifted."

92 Points - Wine Advocate , Jeb Dunnuck
"Spice box, dried underbrush, hints of olive and game (I always find a touch of gaminess in wines from the Melville Vineyard), with sweet cherry fruit and framboise, all show in the 2014 Pinot Noir Melville Vineyard. This Pinot is translucent colored, medium-bodied, balanced and elegant on the palate. Drink it over the coming 5-7 years."

92 Points - Burghound
"This is aromatically quite cool and restrained with distinct notes of spiced green tea to the essence of red cherry and dark raspberry-scented nose. I very much like the mouth feel of the satin-textured middle weight flavors that possess fine delineation on the complex, balanced and sneaky long finish. This is lovely stuff and worth checking out plus it could easily be enjoyed young if desired."

"Crisp and racy with juicy Burgundian style; elegant and lifted with smooth, fresh raspberry and tangy cherry fruit; illustrates why we love this variety; lively and long, seductive and pure."

94 Points - Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck
"Spice box, sappy herbs, bright acidity, rose petal, black cherry and currant notes all emerge from the 2014 Pinot Noir Fe Ciega Vineyard. This medium-bodied, supple, layered and charming effort has fine tannin, bright acidity and a good finish, all suggesting it will evolve nicely. Note, this spent 17 months in 40% new French oak."

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Reserved on the nose, this bottling by Billy Wathen and Dick Dore from their friend Rick Longoria's vineyard offers cranberry, fennel, lavender and a touch of smoke on the nose. It's delicate in its approach, with tightly woven strawberry, red plum and cranberry fruit lifted by dried sagebrush and more of that wildfire smoke."

91 Points - Burghound
"This is also quite deeply pitched yet attractively cool with its admirably pure aromas of plum, violet and dark cherry where an interesting note of dried tangerine peel can be found. The energetic medium weight flavors possess a highly sophisticated mouth feel thanks primarily to the notably fine-grained tannins shaping the delicious, dusty and complex finale. This should benefit from a few years of bottle age yet it's not so tightly wound that it couldn't be enjoyed on the younger side if that's your preference."
